Where is Bairaskund Temple Located?
Bairaskund Temple is a Shiva temple in Vikasnagar Ghat, Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. The temple lies at a distance of 25.8 Km from Nandaprayag (On the national highway 07, en route to Badrinath Temple.)
On visiting the Bairaskund Village, you will find many other temples; however, the most famous is the temple of Mahadev.
History of Bairaskund Temple
The bairasksund temple has been mentioned in the Ravan Samhita and other Hindu religious texts. It is believed to be where Ravana underwent severe austerities to please Lord Shiva.
According to the Hindu Mythology, despite all the efforts, when lord shiva did not appear in front of Ravan, he performed Shiva Tandav and sacrificed his ten heads to the Mahadev. The place where Ravan kept his heads is known as Dasmoli.

- Every morning, prayers start around 4 am, and the temple priest, Nepali Maharaj, offers water and prayers to Lord Shiva, which continue till noon.

The best place to start your journey for Bairaskund is Rishikesh. From Rishikesh, you have to follow the national highway 7 to Nandaprayag, from where the route to Bairaskund diverts.
By Road
Taxis and buses are readily available from Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Delhi to Nandaprayag. From Nandaprayag, you will need to book a cab or board a shared taxi to Vikasnagar Ghat-Kandal Pull and reach Bairaskund Mahadev.
You can also drive there if you own a vehicle.
