Lana implies in "A&W" that she is luring men to her hotel room for pointless sex.

The first line of the lyrics describes her childhood and how she has evolved as an adult. She croons: "I stopped doing cartwheels when I was nine years old. My mum and I haven't spoken in a very long time.

Just take a look at me—at the length of my hair, the form of my face, and the structure of my physique. After listening to them for years, do you really think I care what I do?"

The chorus is where she finally defines "A&W" for us. "He should call and come into my bedroom. We ultimately fucked on the hotel floor. It's no longer about getting someone to adore me. This is what it's like to live as an American wh-re."

She refers to the 2015 film The Diary of a Teenage Girl, which is about a 15-year-old who starts an affair with her mother's lover, in the next stanza. She wonders if she resembles the movie's lead character.

"watching The Diary of a Teenage Girl. thinking about what went wrong I'm a princess, and I cause strife. Ask me why I act the way I do. I don't know, maybe I'm just kind of like this. I might just be this way."

In the third verse, Lana tells us that she has been sexually assaulted and reveals the devastating reason why she never came forward

"Look at my hair, for example. Look at how long it is there and how my body is shaped. Do you honestly believe that if I told you that I had been raped, no one would believe that I hadn't asked for it? Didn't testify since I had already ruined my story."
